31 May – 9 June: Equipment installations at Vatnajökull ice cap

The FUTUREVOLC project aims for better monitoring of ice covered of Icelandic volcanoes.  Some of them hide under Vatnajökull, the largest ice cap in Europe. Research and monitoring in the area is facilitated by the Icelandic Glaciological Society that support research of and travels on the glaciers of Iceland, with scientists and laymen working together towards that goal. Installation of new monitoring equipment is a part of an expedition 31 May – 9 June to the Vatnajökull ice cap.
